Battlefield BC2 VS Modern Warfare 2 Over the past seven months, two modern shooters have been released. Both are definitely game of the year contenders in every aspect, but which one would win? Both of the games are beautiful to watch, sound magnificent, and the gameplay is top notch. But which one is the overall winner?
AUDIO- Modern Warfare 2: MW2’s music was at most good, but at the same time, became extremely repetitive and at sometimes, even annoying. Who likes to hear the game begin to get louder and louder once you are the last remaining member of your team alive? A complete nuisance and just buzz-killer. The audio is overall good, from the reloading of a single shot from your Intervention to your almost kid-like PP200 spitting out bullets. Overall, the audio was average, good at most.
3/5
Battlefield BC 2: The default sound in the game is great; you will hear tanks shooting and bullets flying by from every corner of the map. You will hear boats gliding across the water, helicopter blades spinning and just overall great audio. The trick to BFBC2’s audio is to go to the settings and turn on “War Tapes” for the audio style. Once you turn it on, you will never look back. You will hear shell casings from your bullets falling to the ground, while in a building, shots will echo throughout the entire structure, sniper shots are deafening and at the same time breathtaking. The audio is superb on BFBC2 ***For More comparisons and full review click "Read More".***

Winner- None other than BFBC2. The games sounds are by far the best that I have ever heard from not even a FPS, but definitely rival some of the all-time great games in aspect to audio. There is nothing better than hearing your bullet shells hit the ground as you empty clips into enemies.
VIDEO- Modern Warfare 2: I am going to try my best not to stand up and just run around like I did the first time I put in MW2 on my HD TV. To be honest, it was breathtaking. The image was flawless, crisp and clean, and overall amazing. The colors are fantastic, explosions look great, even the flashes form your gun’s muzzle look good. In every aspect of it, the game’s video is perfect. The only downside is that when you look at grass, ground, walls, or even characters at close range, they appear to be somewhat pixilated and dull. But besides that small factor, flawless video.
4.5/5
Battlefield Bad Company 2: BFBC2 has very good video, high frame rate, crisp and overall great. It may not be as sharp as MW2’s, but it can definitely hold its own against it. The landscapes look beautiful, and for BFBC2, they need to keep a fresh image constantly for a much larger map compared to MW2’s maps. The maps for BFBC2 are at least 4 times the size of MW2’s largest maps, including Wasteland and Estate. But overall, BFBC2’s video is very good, and is great video quality, especially for the realism the game entails.
4/5
Winner- MW2 wins hands down in this category. The video is perfect, frame rate is great, and the game overall just looks amazing, and no HDTV is necessary to tell you that. Even on an old 50 inch Zenith TV, it looked fantastic. MW2 wins this category in a landslide.
GAMEPLAY- Modern Warfare 2- MW2’s is so addictive, it makes crack look like Mickey Mouse. Once you first pop it on, it will not likely leave your respective console/computer for days to come. The gameplay is extremely pick up and play, you could take a month break from the game and you would come back just as good as you were before. The game offline is fantastic, great story, difficulty is set at not impossible but also not too easy, and the game is just very good offline. Online is where MW2 shines. The ranking system is perfect, weapon selection and customization awesome, perk and create-a-class is great. The only problem with MW2 is the players you have to deal with online. Join any Ground War game and be ready to withstand a barrage of noob tubes, javelins, and tactical knifers. Be warned, only play if you believe in patience.
4.25/5
Battlefield Bad Company 2: BFBC2 is most likely the most realistic, but fun, shooter available on any system/computer. The gameplay is very good, realistic, smooth and fast paced. The story mode on BFBC2 is a much more solid gameplay experience compared to MW2’s story. The online is superb. The weapon customization and selection is far greater than MW2’s. In BFBC2, you level up and unlock more weapons based on which class you use the most. For example, if you use the sniper class much more than the medic class, you will unlock more sniper rifles. The online game modes are extremely fun. The only downside for the game modes is that that are very few game modes compared to MW2, even though the ones they do offer (and they are releasing new games modes alongside maps in new DLC’s) can definitely hold their own against MW2. Perhaps the largest positive for the BFBC2 online is the party system. You can create or join a party of 4 people, and you will never be separated from games due to server problems and such. Alongside the party system is the ability to respawn right next to your teammates, which can be crucial if they are in a large firefight. Overall, the game is fantastic online, but best of all, no grenade launcher spamming ever!
4.75/5
THE WINNER- This is very hard to decide if there is an actual winner between the two games. If you are looking for a great pick up and play game which is very fun, go with Modern Warfare 2. Now if you are looking for a perfect all-around game with no downsides via gameplay and online, definitely go with Battlefield Bad Company 2. Battlefield is much superior online and there is no annoying people that will launch noob tubes and javelins the entire game, and that will create for a much more stress-free gameplay. There is really no bad choice here. Either way, you are going to get a great game with days of replay available on it. |
