Thats right 6 cores! With Intel releasing the I7-90X Extreme Edition. Yes there already are 6 core processors on the market but those are expensive server processors that run at a lower frequency. AMD has already released 12 core processors for servers running at 2.1Ghz but yet to release a home desktop processor with over 4 cores.

The 6 cores are hyper threaded making it show up with 12 process threads in a device manger. Each of the 6 cores are clocked at 3.33GHz which may be over clocked if you want. Containing 32KB L1 cache per a core, 256KB L2 cache per a core, and a 12MB L3 cache accessible by all cores.

On the bad side it comes with a price tag a little over $1,000. Which was not unexpected from Intel being the I7 still hasn't dropped below $500. Meanwhile for about the same price you can pick up a AMD 12 core 45nm server processor for $1,000.
